Speech: Remarks at the opening of the 3rd edition of the European Culture Forum

The European Culture Forum took place at the Bozar arts centre on 4-6 November 2013. The Forum focused on three main topics: measuring the true value of culture, exploring new funding models for culture, and audience development - making cultural participation a reality.

In his keynote speech European Commission President Barroso underlined that "culture is the cement that binds Europe together." Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou was talking about Creative Europe, the new programme for the cultural and creative sectors for 2014-2020.

At the opening of the Forum the Commissioner also announced the winners of the first @diversity Awards, which recognise outstanding examples of ICT innovation to promote culture.
