Press Release: Renewable Energy: Commission refers Ireland to Court for failing to transpose EU rules

On 23 January 2014, the European Commission referred Ireland to the Court of Justice of the European Union for failing to fully transpose the Renewable Energy Directive. The Directive aims at ensuring a 20% share of renewable energy in the EU by 2020. The Directive had to be transposed by the Member States by 5 December 2010.
