The European Parliament's committee on industry, research and energy (ITRE) adopted on the 24 January 2014 the second public-private joint venture in innovative medicines (IMI2).

IMI is a public-private partnership between the European Commission and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA).
