Press Release: EU funding helps bridge gap between ‘blue sky’ research and the market

On the 6 February 2014, further 'Proof of Concept' funding of the European Research Council (ERC) were announced: a total of 67 leading researchers, who already hold ERC grants, received up to €150,000 each.

Such funding exists because 'Blue sky’ basic science, which focuses on advancing knowledge, can sometimes generate unexpected applications. This funding helps to bring their pioneering work closer to the market.
