Press Release: Food chain: Commissioner Borg welcomes Parliament’s endorsement of a common financial framework for 2014-2020

A Commission proposal creating, for the first time, a common financial framework covering the whole food chain was endorsed on 2 April 2014 by the European Parliament.

This framework with a budget of almost €1.9 billion covering the period 2014-2020 will fund priorities in the area of food and feed. It will underpin the animal, plant and control package of reforms adopted by the Commission in May 2013 which will simplify the regulatory environment and reduce the administrative burden on food business operators.
