A consultation was launched on the 5 June 2014 by Finance Minister Jane Hutt on the investment priorities of a new £75m (€90m) EU programme to benefit regions on both sides of the Irish Sea.

The Ireland Wales Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 will build on the success of the 2007-2013 programme which was led by the Southern and Eastern Regional Assembly (SERA) in Ireland and supported by the European Regional Development Fund.

The new programme will be managed by the Welsh Government in partnership with Irish Authorities to develop new collaborative projects and partnerships focusing on the areas of innovation, climate change, and the utilisation of natural and cultural resources.
