EU enlargement to the Balkans: the show must go on

In this Commentary, Corina Stratulat calls on European politicians to start actively promoting EU enlargement to the Balkans. In spite of the on-going crisis in Europe and all the sticky points in the region, this year’s momentum in enlargement and reform – highlighted in yesterday’s Progress Reports from the European Commission – should be harnessed for further advancement on the dossier. The European integration of the region is not only the best way to resolve outstanding problems, but also in the self-interest of the Union itself.
