What language(s) for the European Union?

On 17 June 2014, Notre Europe - Jacques Delors Institute, in partnership with EuroCité and Europartenaires, organised the seventh seminar of the cycle 'European public space: Heading towards the European elections' about 'Multilingualism: strength or weakness?'.

Virginie Timmerman, project manager Citizenship and Democracy, summarised the seminar around its three main elements:

1. Multilingualism in norms and monolingualism in practice
2. Preserving multilingualism and strengthening the European public space
3. Overcoming obstacles and resistance
