Kosovo given go-ahead by IOC to take part in 2016 Olympics

Kosovo was recognised by the International Olympic Committee on 22 October 2014, clearing the way for the former Serbia province to send a team to Rio de Janeiro in 2016.

The move was opposed by Serbia, which has worked to block international acceptance of Kosovo, which declared independence in 2008.
