Israeli foreign minister Avigdor Lieberman criticised the European Union for its moves towards Palestinian statehood, stating that it proved the death of the Oslo Accords. While accusing European parliaments of recreating anti-Semitic lies, Mr Lieverman described EU's support for Palestine as Israel’s top diplomatic challenge. The statement followed a vote at UN's Security Council on withdrawal from the occupied territories, which was vetoed by the United States but voted favourably by two EU countries, France and Luxembourg. Israeli officials also announced they had halted the transfer of tax revenues to the Palestinians following their bid to join the International Criminal Court. The Local.it reported that the Italian parliament would vote whether to recognize the State of Palestine on the 27 February 2015. |
