Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic is Croatia’s first female president-elect

Croatia elected its first female president on the 11 January 2015 after Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, a member of the conservative Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), defeated Social Democrat (SDP) and existing President Ivo Josipovic in the second round of Presidential elections.

Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic was sworn in as President on the 15 February 2015.
