German government blames Pegida for rise in crimes against refugees

Amid a growing number of asylum applications and the construction of new shelters for refugees, right-wing extremists also stepped up their actions against foreigners, according to the German Ministry of Interior.

A spokesperson for the ministry stated that the asylum issue was being instrumentalised by right-wing extremist parties and so-called civil movements, who were promoting demonstrations and destruction of facilities.
