Russia shelves Turkish Stream pipeline project

Russia's energy minister Alexander Novak announced on 3 December 2015 the Turkish Stream gas pipeline project had been suspended as a result of Turkey's decision to shoot down a Russian jet in Syria.

It was planned for the pipeline to go under the Black Sea from Russia to the Turkish-Greek border and onward to Austria in order to also supply another 47 bcm to markets in the European Union.
