An extraordinary summit of the Visegrad group - comprising Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia - was scheduled to take place on the 15 February 2016, a few days ahead of the European Council on 18-19 February. This was announced by the Czech prime minister Bohuslav Sobotka on 25 January 2016. The group was set to discuss the migration crisis and a possible 'plan B' in case of a widening divide with the older member of the Schengen area. Dissatisfaction began when the Visegrad countries decided to reject mandatory quotas for taking refugees, proposed by the European Commission. |
