Commission opens in-depth investigation into proposed merger between Dow and DuPont

The European Commission opened on 11 August 2016 an in-depth investigation to assess whether the proposed merger of Dow and DuPont is in line with the EU Merger Regulation and wthether the deal reduces competition in areas such as crop protection, seeds and certain petrochemicals.

The transaction was notified to the Commission on 22 June.
