Constitutional court rules changes as unconstitutional

Poland’s Constitutional Tribunal ruled on the 11 August 2016 that around a dozen new points in the new law pertaining to the Tribunal introduced by the government were unconstitutional.

The decision threatened to escalate a long-running dispute with the right-wing Polish government, which had also involved the Council of Europe and the European Commission.
