Statement by the Spokesperson on the arrest of Natiq Jafarli in Azerbaijan

On the 17 August 2016, a statement was made on behalf of the European Union on the arrest of Natiq Jafarli, the Executive Secretary of the Real party, in Azerbaijan. This arrest came just 6 weeks ahead of the referendum on constitutional amendments that Jafarli’s party opposes and campaigns against.
