Road transport: Commission refers Germany to Court over discriminatory road charging

The European Commission decided on 29 September 2016 to refer Germany to the European Court of Justice over the plan to introduce a road charging scheme for private vehicles (PKW-Maut). According to the Commission, such system is discriminatory as it distinguishes nationals and foreigners when it comes to pay road charges.

However, Politico reported on 3 November 2016 that both sides were close to an agreement on this matter.
