The European Parliament's plenary session approved on 25 October 2016 a proposal to prolong a 10% increase in the EU contribution towards regional and social project costs in Greece. Member of the Parliament also approved a special provision whereby the European Union would pay up to 85% of project costs in Cyprus until the regional and social policy programming period ends in 2020. The European Commission proposed this amendment to Regulation No 1303/2013 in June 2016. The Council of the European Union still needed to endorse it before formal adoption. |
