On the occasion of the World and European Water Day, 22 March 2017, the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini recalled on behalf of the European Union that safe drinking water and sanitation are crucial for a healthy and dignified life and reiterates its commitment to achieve access and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all.
