Summary: The success of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) depends very much on the implementation of an effective control system. The measures provided for in Council Regulation (EC) No 1224/2009 establishing an EU-wide control system for ensuring compliance with rules of the CFP (hereinafter ‘the Control Regulation’) seek to establish a Union system for control, inspection, and enforcement based on a global and integrated approach, in accordance with the principle of proportionality and administrative cost-efficiency. |
