Adoption of mandate for negotiations with the Kyrgyz Republic on a comprehensive agreement

Background and further information:

The agreement aims to build on the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in force since 1999 and was seen as part of the commitment to take forward the bilateral relations.

The mandate was adopted during a meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council.

The Council of the European Union adopted on 9 October 2017 a mandate for the European Commission and the EU's High Representative for Foreign Policy to negotiate a comprehensive agreement with the Kyrgyz Republic.
