	Summary: The first annual report on the state of Schengen was approved by the European Parliament's plenary session on 30 May 2018. The document addresses the main shortcomings in implementing the Schengen rules. Further information: MEPs condemn the continued reintroduction of internal border checks due to shortcomings in the common European asylum system and due to the lack of political will, solidarity and responsibility-sharing.
