Summary: On 6 August 2018 the European Commission presented a proposal for a Council Decision establishing the position to be taken on the Union's behalf in the EU-Central Africa EPA Committee regarding the adoption of a Decision relating to Croatia's accession to the European Union. The Council of the European Union adopted a Decision on 15 October 2018. Further information: The aim of the stepping stone Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) between the Central Africa Party and the European Union is to establish an initial framework for a full Economic Partnership Agreement in accordance with the Cotonou Agreement. The Central Africa Party is hitherto composed of the Republic of Cameroon. The EPA has been applied on a provisional basis since 4 August 2014. The EPA Committee is responsible for the administration of all the fields covered by the Agreement and for the achievement of all the tasks mentioned therein. At its fourth meeting, the EPA Committee is due to adopt a Decision concerning the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the Union. The objective of the envisaged act is to make the necessary amendments to the Agreement following Croatia's accession. |
