Summary: Annual Report for 2018 for the office of the European Ombudsman. Further information: The office saw a strong increase in complaints inside my mandate from citizens, civil society, businesses and media. In a rare occurrence, the Ombudsman's submitted a Special Report to the European Parliament. The year also saw the formal launch of the 'Fast-Track' procedure for access to documents requests. The Ombusman also completed a mapping exercise on how 15 institutions have managed the rules regarding senior staff moving to the private sector. As a follow-up to the #MeToo movement - which highlights harassment and especially against women - the Ombudsman decided to check what anti-harassment policies the EU administration has in place. The analysis was later published. This Annual Report was approved by the plenary session of the European Parliament on 16 January 2020. |
