Video conference of economics and finance ministers, 10 July 2020

Summary:

EU Ministers responsible for financial and economic matters (ECOFIN) held a videoconference on 10 July 2020. The agenda included the following items:

• Exchange of views on progress achieved on the implementation of measures to respond to the COVID-19 crisis at EU level:
  • ESM pandemic crisis support for Member States;
  • Temporary support to mitigate unemployment risks in an emergency (SURE);
  • EIB pan-European guarantee fund to support businesses;
• Briefing on the work conducted concerning the EU's post-coronavirus recovery;
• Presentation of the final report of the High-Level Forum on the Capital Markets Union (CMU);
• Exchange of views on the priorities to bring the CMU forward, ahead of a new CMU Action Plan;
• Briefing on the latest convergence reports published by the European Commission and European Central Bank;
• Presentation on the priorities of the forthcoming German Council Presidency in relevant areas of action.
