Summary:

A meeting of the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) was held on 5 October 2021. The agenda includes the following items:

  • Discussion on the implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF);
  • Adoption of proposed Council Implementing Decision concerning the National Recovery and Resilience Plans (NRRP) for Malta;
  • Exchange of views on the state of play regarding the SURE instrument;
  • Exchange of views on the lessons learned from the European Semester 2021;
  • Preparation for the meeting of the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors, and for the IMF annual meeting;
  • Adoption of conclusions on climate finance, ahead of the COP26;

  • Exchange of views on revising prudential rules for insurance and reinsurance companies, in the framework of Solvency II;
  • Update by the Council Presidency on the existing legislative proposals relating to financial services;
  • Update by the European Commission on the implementation of financial services legislation.
