Summary:The European Commission published on 19 September 2022 the fifth Eurobarometer dedicated to sport and physical activity. Further information:The Commission launches a Special Eurobarometer on sport on a regular basis to monitor trends in participation in sport and physical activity, including levels of physical activity in the EU-27 and information about the contexts in which people exercise. 45% of the respondents report that they never exercise or play sport. Conversely, 38% do so at least once a week, and 6% five times a week or more. The share of respondents has gained +6% since 2009, from 39% to 45%. Respondents in Finland (71%), Luxembourg (63%), the Netherlands (60%), and Denmark and Sweden (59% in both countries) are the most likely to exercise or play sport at least once a week. Conversely, over half of respondents in eight countries say they never exercise or play sport, with the highest levels in Portugal (73%), Greece (68%) and Poland (65%). |
