The organisation Reporters Without Borders found that press freedom in Europe had been declining in absolute terms, following the release of its annual press freedom index on 12 February 2015.

Even so, several European countries still ranked top of the index - Finland was the country with the best score. On the other hands, FYR Macedonia was the European country with the lowest score.
