A committee of experts looking into pay and perks for MEPs has recommended a common salary and a clampdown on expense accounts

In a report published this week, the committee suggests all MEPs should get the same pay of €7,420. Salaries currently range from €2,879 to €9,975 depending on which country the member comes from. The report also recommends that expenses should only be paid on the basis of receipts.
