Euro MPs proved that no crisis is too great last week when members of the foreign affairs committee realised that a response to Italy's Albania immigration crisis might have to be postponed because they were on holiday. When one member suggested the MEPs could meet during the break, chairman Tom Spencer resisted the idea, suggesting that if something had to be done, it should be left to the MEPs' political advisers to draft a response over the next hour. The fact that the issue might need more than 60 minutes attention appeared to bother no one.
