A strict limit for pesticide residues in baby food

The proposed measure must be approved by a panel of experts from EU national governments before it can become law, with a vote expected early next month. At present, legislation in some EU countries is more lenient, prompting fears that a majority of national governments may vote against the proposal. An earlier attempt to set a low limit for pesticide residues in baby food failed because of national opposition in March.
