A year of Europe – 2003

What did the European Union actually do in 2003 ? This new web site, prepared by the General Secretariat of the European Commission, provides some answers to this basic question of many European citizens. It takes a short retrospective look at the principal events on the European scene in 2003. The information on selected themes and areas of activity is mainly taken from the General Report on the Activities of the European Union, published by the European Commission, which provides a detailed overview of all EU activities during the year. Further information can be found in the Bulletin of the European Union, which gives a monthly account of Community activities. This electronic brochure contains 20 thematic information sheets, each treating a particular subject. Individual information sheets or the entire set can be printed or downloaded in pdf format.
