Abkhazia rallies for independence

The Abkhazian Parliament has approved 20 August 2008 an official appeal to Russia to recognise its independence. Political parties and social organizations in the breakaway republic are calling for a massive rally in the capital Sukhumi to support the government. South Ossetia is also planning to hold a rally.
