Adoption of conclusions on Cambodia

This set of conclusions was adopted at a meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council.

The conclusions were adopted in the light of political developments seen as worrying and what was considered as the deterioration of democracy, respect of human rights and the rule of law. The Council strongly urged the Cambodian government to stop using the judiciary as a political tool to harass and intimidate political opponents, civil society, labour rights activists and human rights defenders.

The Council highlights that it could consider specific targeted measures if the situation did not improve.

The Council of the European adopted on 26 February 2018 a set of conclusions on the political situation in Cambodia.
