Adoption of conclusions on the situation in South Sudan

The Council of the European Union adopted a set of conclusions on 16 April 2018 regarding the situation in South Sudan.

The Council highlights the importance of 2018 in securing peace in the country, as the term of the transitional government of National Unity as set out in the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (ARCSS) comes to an end. It reaffirms the EU's concern at the continued fighting and violations and abuses of human rights. It also points out to EU's readiness in applying appropriate measures to those obstructing the political process.
