Summary:

The annual Yearbook of theĀ Association of European Airlines (AEA) seeks to outline and explain the impact on the industry of one of the toughest periods in the history of aviation. It details the problems and the solutions the industry seeks to implement to ensure European aviation is healthy and vibrant. It reviews the trends and achievements of the AEA member airlines in the context of the worldwide and European aviation environment during the past calendar year. In addition, each Yearbook includes a full profile for each of the AEA member carriers as well as some key statistics at AEA level and with airline detail.

Against a background of global economic slowdown, the war in Iraq, and SARS, global airlines have suffered four consecutive years of losses and no growth. The continued crisis was however seen as a catalyst for change and it has encouraged the industry to develop new solutions to meet the changing needs of customers and the marketplace.
