African economies are pushing at an open trade door

The UK's European partners at the G8 Summit in Scotland, 6-8 July 2005, have rebuffed the suggestion that the Summit be used to set a date on the promised elimination of European Union agricultural export subsidies. However, such a trade deal would have had little impact on Africa, the main focus of the Summit.
