Summary: Agreement which sets out the terms and conditions for the participation of Lebanon in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA). Further information: The Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area ('PRIMA') aims at implementing a joint programme to foster research and innovation capacities and to develop knowledge and common innovative solutions for improving the efficiency, safety, security and sustainability of agro-food systems and of integrated water provision and management in the Mediterranean area. On 30 May 2017, the Council of the European Union authorised the European Commission to open negotiations with Lebanon on an International Agreement laying down the terms and conditions for Lebanon's participation in PRIMA. The negotiations started on 26 June and were successfully completed on 18 July. On 11 August, the Commission published proposals for the signing and provisional application of the Agreement, and the conclusion of the Agreement. On 25 September, the Council adopted Decision (EU) 2018/467 on the signing of the Agreement, followed on 28 May 2018 by Decision (EU) 2018/826 on the conclusion of the Agreement. |
