A meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council (AGRIFISH) was held on 12-13 December 2021. The agenda includes the following items:

  • Trilateral consultations to determine fishing opportunities, based on a draft law tabled by the European Commission;
  • Adoption of conclusions on the Commission's contingency plan for ensuring food supply and food security in times of crisis;
  • Debate on the issue of unfair trading practices (UTPs) in the EU's food supply chain;
  • Briefing from the Council Presidency on the state of play of negotiations on the proposed Fisheries Control Regulation and on the BIOEAST initiative;
  • Briefing from the Commission on the proposed regulation on deforestation-free products and on ways to improve effectiveness of public investment under the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund;
  • Issues raised by national delegations:
    • Keel bone fractures in laying hens
    • Sustainability in the food supply chain
    • Agri-food exports to China
    • Rising prices for agricultural inputs;
    • CAP strategic plans;
    • Pigmeat sector.
  • Adoption of amendments to Regulation (EU) 2018/1991 as regards the EU’s contribution for integrated farm statistics under the 2021-2027 financial framework;
  • Information concerning delegated acts under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) 2021-2027.
