Agriculture and Fisheries Council, 22-23 October 2007

A meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council was held on 23 October 2007. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Political agreement on a Regulation fixing the fishing opportunities for certain fish stocks applicable in the Baltic Sea for 2008;

+ Political agreement on a Regulation clarifying aspects of the financing of the Common Agriculutre Policy and introducing the obligation to publsih the national list of beneficiaries;

+ Adoption of a Decision allowing Romania to allocate State Aid funds to its farmers to compensate them as a result of the drought in 2007;

+ Exchange of views on the Community Animal Health Strategy;

+ Discussion on the reform of the wine sector;

+ Adoption of a Regulation bringing together 21 texts governing the Common Agricultural Markets Organisation, a Regulation abolishing Finnish aid for seeds and cereal seeds after 2010 and a Decision simplifying the import arrangements for manioc from Thailand.
