Airbus unveiled plans for its first US factory to make passenger aircraft on the 2 July 2012, in a fresh sign of US manufacturing’s improving competitiveness.

The European aircraft maker would invest $600m in a factory manufacturing narrowbody aircraft in Mobile, Alabama, in a move that would dramatically ramp up Airbus’ competition with Boeing, its chief rival.
