Preview of meeting on 6-7 April 2006 by European Commissioner for Transport, Jacques Barrot with eleven organisations representing Europe’s airlines, airports and transport unions to discuss airport policy in Europe. Issues to be discussed included: airport charges, the competitiveness of airports and airport services such as baggage handling. Participants were also to be given the chance to explain their views on the future airport requirements of the aviation industry. It was also suggested that in the future airlines could face congestion charges for using European airports at peak times.
