Almost half a million children have signed a petition begging the EU to ban the import of exotic and wild birds

The petition, which will be considered by the Parliament's petitions committee, has been presented to its President Klaus Hänsch. German Green Undine Bloch von Blottnitz told the assembly this week that of the 679 species included in the Commission's original list of birds to be banned, only 81 remain.
