The European Union Strategy against the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) was adopted by the European Council in December 2003.

This Report is non-exhaustive and focuses on the main developments. In 2021, multilateral work on non-proliferation and disarmament issues continued to be impact by the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, mostly because of travel restrictions. While a number of multilateral meetings were postponed, many other meetings could be organised online and some in-person. In that way, multilateral discussions could continue, while recognising the limitations of interactions via videoconference.
