The European Ombudsman published in October 2007 the annual report covering the activities of his office for the year 2006.

The year 2006 saw a rise in the proportion of cases that were closed with a critical remark and an equally
significant fall in the number of cases in which a friendly solution was reached. There was also a lower rate of
acceptance and implementation of the Ombudsman’s draft recommendations by the institutions.
