Communication published by the European Commission in December 2019, setting out the Annual Sustainable Growth Strategy for 2020.
In this Annual Sustainable Growth Strategy, the Commission outlines the economic and employment policy priorities for the European Union (EU). The Strategy takes into account four fundamental dimensions - climate neutrality; development of technology and sustainable solutions; completion and resilience of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU); fair and inclusive economic transition.
The Strategy is strongly influenced by the European Green Deal, adopted as the growth framework by the College of Commissioners.
This Communication was published by the Commission on 17 December 2019 as part of 2020 European Semester Autumn Package. The Single Market Performance Report was released alongside this Communication as a Staff Working Document. The Council of the European Union adopted conclusions on this Report on 18 February 2020. The Single Market Performance report was also discussed by the Council of the European Union on 27 February, on the basis of a Note prepared by the Council Presidency.
