Book abstract:

An increasing number of EU Member States are adopting Antitrust Laws as they seek to regulate competition. Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton, a highly-respected European antitrust law practice, has meticulously monitored and informed its clients of the most significant competition developments in Europe since the early 1970s, and this work arises from their wish to share the results of that monitoring with a wider audience.

The work is organised in two parts. The first part addresses EC Competition Developments and has chapters which examine Vertical Restraints, Abuse of Market Power, Mergers and Acquisitions, Joint Ventures, State Aid, and Policy and Procedure. Part two takes these elements and provides chapters on their application in national competition developments in Austria, Belgium, France, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The work will interest business leaders, competition lawyers and antitrust practitioners with interests in Europe.
