Armenia pulls out of Eurovision contest in Azerbaijan

EurActiv reported that Armenia announced on the 7 March 2012 that it would pull out of the May 2012 Eurovision song contest in Azerbaijan.

The statement underscored tensions over Nagorno-Karabakh, a mainly Armenian-populated enclave claimed by Azerbaijan and the flashpoint of more than 20 years of conflict.
