The European Parliament approved on 3 July 2001, by 405 votes to 101 with 32 abstentions, the agreement reached in the Conciliation Committee on the European Commission's proposal for a directive on the resale rights for the benefit of the author of an original work of art. Due to UK pressure Member States were given the possibilty of transition periods and the introduction of minimum sale price thresholds. |
